About Diaspro

Diaspro is a community-driven publication focused on diaspora life, culture, events, people, and organizations.

The idea behind Diaspro is simple: communities grow stronger when people know what is happening around them, who is building within them, and how they can connect with one another.

Across cities like Toronto, thousands of cultural organizations, artists, professionals, businesses, volunteers, and community groups are constantly creating events, initiatives, and spaces that often remain fragmented or difficult to discover outside of word-of-mouth or social media feeds. Diaspro exists to help make those communities more visible, connected, and accessible.

Diaspro focuses on:

    • community events
    • cultural gatherings
    • diaspora organizations
    • community stories
    • local businesses and professionals
    • commentary and editorial pieces on diaspora life and identity

Diaspro strongly believes that preserving culture and building bridges between cultures are not opposing ideas. Strong communities should not isolate themselves from others. Different cultures are opportunities to learn from one another, support one another, and better understand the people around us.

The goal is not to create separation between communities, but to help people maintain connection to their roots while encouraging mutual respect, collaboration, and cultural exchange across diasporas.

Whether it is a Balkan festival, an Eastern European business owner, a Latin American cultural initiative, an Arab community fundraiser, or a story about second-generation identity in Canada, Diaspro aims to highlight the people and organizations helping communities stay alive, active, and connected.

Diaspro is currently in its early stages and is growing community by community.

If you would like Diaspro to feature your organization, event, business, initiative, or story, reach out through the contact page or on social media (Facebook, Instagram).
